MELANIE LAURENT & DAMIEN RICE SONGS

Honeyfest at The Barge Inn
On April 16 Damien will be joining The Magic Numbers and Laura Marling in the line up for Honeyfest 2011, alongside Dry The River, Marthas and Arthurs, plus local acts Matthew Kilford and Slaggerij. The mini-festival, which has now sold out, is being held in support of the Barge Inn Community Project (BICP) - a group of Wiltshire villagers who are taking over their local pub with the help of a lottery grant. The Barge Inn Community Project is part of Village SOS; a joint venture between BBC1 and the Big Lottery Fund which is supporting villages across the UK to start up new business ventures that rejuvenate rural and village life. Tree Week & New Song
On Tuesday, March 8 in Dublin, Liam Ó'Maonlaí & Glen Hansard held a concert where the focus turned to Irish forests and the news that Bertie Ahern, an ex-prime minister of Ireland, is involved with the proposed sale of Irish forests to a foreign company.
Damien was there and got up for a song which has been posted on youtube by a member of the audience.
It being National Tree Week in Ireland, we thought we'd also give you the link to the petition by The Woodland League to save Ireland's forests from being sold off. If this is something you'd like to support, feel free to sign here.

Melanie Laurent - en t'attendant
Melanie Laurent releases her debut record en t'attendant on May 2 in France and Belgium through Atmospheriques / Pias. Damien has co-written and produced five songs for Melanie, while Joel Shearer has produced five other songs, the video for one of which you can see on YouTube.com and Melanie's official website. Canciones de cuna (Lullabies)
Canciones de cuna (Lullabies) is out now exclusively in Argentina through branches of Disco. All the lyrics for this album were written by children from aged 7 to 21 and their songs were arranged and recorded by various artists. Damien has contributed his version of a song called "Look at me". Over 150 children took part in the project through various creative workshops . All proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to the Casa de la Cultura de la Calle to continue projects encouraging social inclusion through art for children at social risk. For every $14,90 raised (Argentinian pesos), $9 (Argentinian pesos) goes to Casa de la cultura de la calle.

Damien Featured on Gasoline Rainbow
Damien joins a group of musicians on Gasoline Rainbow, a compilation album to benefit Global Green USA and their efforts to assist the communities, people and ecosystems impacted by the BP oil spill. Set to release on November 30, Gasoline Rainbow features Damien's "The Connoisseur of Great Excuse," a brand new, previously unreleased track. In addition to this, the album also includes music from Phoenix, The Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Amy Kuney, City and Colour and many more. This compilation was brought together by actress Sophia Bush and actor Austin Nichols of the hit television show One Tree Hill, after having travelled with Global Green to see the devastation first hand. Available exclusively on iTunes, 100% of the artist and label proceeds from Gasoline Rainbow will be used for Global Green's oil spill response initiatives.

Iceland Inspires Gig
Damien will perform at the Iceland Inspires concert on July 1 at 8 pm GMT (9 pm BST). Iceland Inspires is an open air concert held close to the now quiet Eyjafjalla volcano at Hamragar near Seljalandsfoss waterfall. It is a free concert to any lover of the eclectic line-up and will be streamed live around the world. Tibet Film Festival 2010 : When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun
The UK Premiere and director Q & A of When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun at the Tibet Film Festival 2010 is on July 29 at 7 pm at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Mall, London SW1Y 5AH.
Damien Rice will perform the films title track "What if I'm Wrong" prior to the UK premiere screening.
